HIGHWAYS bosses are set for a stormy meeting with residents over a controversial road closure.
A special public meeting will be held at Horwich RMI club in Ramsbottom Road on February 10 at 7.30pm to discuss traffic management in the area.
And the closure of Winter Hey Lane will be at the top of the agenda for many people who attend.
Bolton Council has been running traffic management trials on Winter Hey Lane during the last two years to try to find ways of easing a conflict between motorists and pedestrians.
Bollards were placed across the road at its junction with Lee Lane to prevent traffic access to a section of the road in an effort to "put the heart" into Horwich's shopping area.
But dozens of letters objecting to the road closure were sent to council bosses and a 2,000-name petition was also submitted.
Other trial traffic management schemes have included temporary traffic lights and introduction of a partial one-way system.
Cllr Barbara Ronson said: "This will be a consultation meeting, not a protest. The meeting will give people a chance to air their views and look at the options available."
