Horwich people will get a further chance to comment on controversial traffic proposals at a public meeting next month. Bolton Council has been running traffic management trials on Winter Hey Lane over the last two years to try and find ways of easing the pedest- rian/traffic conflict. Now the Council is holding a final consultation with the public before taking a decision.
The meeting, at Horwich RMI Social and Recreation Club in Ramsbottom Road at 7.30pm on February 10 will be attended by Cllr John Byrne, Chairman of Bolton's Highways Sub-Committee, and traffic management staff.
"There's no doubt the experimental proposals have attracted controversy, and this meeting is to give people the chance for their say before the matter goes back to the committee for a decision. There are a number of alternatives to be looked at, and people's comments will be noted and reported to the meeting where a decision will be made," he said.
The trial schemes have involved temporary traffic lights, a partial one-way system and blocking off part of Winter Hey Lane to traffic.
