IT is a matter of pride for the town of Bolton that the pioneering professor involved in developing life-saving drugs is a former Bolton School pupil.
Professor Malcolm Stevens has not only helped develop a new brain tumour treatment, but has vowed to continue his work to fight cancer.
He may now live in Nottingham, where he is head of the Cancer Research Campaign, but Prof Stevens is still an avid Bolton Wanderers' fan with fond memories of his former home. No doubt, we will be watching his future career with particular interest.
