PAUL Warhurst could give Colin Todd an unwelcome selection problem tomorrow if he fails a pre-match fitness test.
Wanderers' latest recruit, whose form has been a major influence during the recent unbeaten run, hasn't trained for a week after picking up a calf injury in a private friendly against Nottingham Forest last Thursday.
Todd is hopeful the £800,000 signing from Crystal Palace will get the thumbs up to face Norwich at the Reebok but he was taking nothing for granted today.
"Hopefully I'll get him out there," the manager said with a measure of confidence.
Assuming Warhurst gets the green light, Wanderers will go with the side that won 2-1 at Sheffield United two weeks ago, their third successive win in an 11-match unbeaten run which has taken them to third in the table.
That means Dean Holdsworth, the two-goal hero of Bramall Lane, will again keep the now transfer-listed top scorer Arnar Gunnlaugsson on the sidelines.
The £3.5 million record signing, determined to make the most of his latest chance, goes into the game boosted by his recent performances and a tribute from his manager.
"We've had one or two players who have suffered losses of form but they are good pros and they've knuckled down and played their way through it," Todd said.
"Dean is typical of that determination. He's responded ever so well since getting back into the side. It wasn't easy going to Sheffield but he was in the goals again and confirmed to me that he's beginning to find his feet again.
"I'm looking for him to continue in that scoring form."
Wanderers take on Norwich determined to put the squeeze on second placed Bradford, who travel to Birmingham on Sunday, and with Sunderland - 11 points ahead - still in their sights.
"That's the motivation," Todd said, having previously suggested that Peter Reid's runaway leaders could emulate Wanderers' feat of two years ago when they left the rest of the First Division standing.
"The players and staff still feel we can catch Sunderland and that's a great incentive to have."
Norwich boss Bruce Rioch, who has lost the services of midfield ace Darren Eadie - out with a knee injury - expects to have teenage Wales striker Craig Bellamy back after a six-week lay-off.
Winger Keith O'Neill is also available after being out two months with a hamstring injury.
