A RAMSBOTTOM woman died after she was hit by a car on the motorway after a crash near Rochdale yesterday morning.
Jane Stanhope, aged 38, of Brookbottom Close, was killed after she had got out of her car following the crash on the M62 at Castleton.
Mrs Stanhope's Nissan Micra had been in collision with a Peugeot 406 being driven by Francis Cosgrove, of Yarmouth Avenue, Haslingden, on the eastbound carriageway.
The Nissan Micra car collided with the off side crash barrier before skidding across the motorway eventually hitting the central barrier.
But after Mrs Stanhope got out of her car she was killed after a collision with a Vauxhall Nova Saloon car driven by Stephanie Griffiths from Hull
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened at 10.30am, ring 0161 8562181.
