IT was with some satisfaction we read in your paper the intention to commemorate the actions of the captain of the SS Carpathia, in rescuing survivors of the Titanic tragedy 1912.
While careful research has gone into the history of Captain Rostron, the proposed plaque perpetuates one of the many inaccuracies of the tragedy. Titanic was not SS Titanic, but RMS Titanic. To refer to Titanic as a steam ship is factually inaccurate. This may seem to be nit-picking, however there should really be an effort for historical accuracy for future students.
