I AM organising a multicultural exhibition and craft day to take place at Haigh Hall on September 19, 1999.
One of the aims of this event would be to encourage people to become more aware of the number of varied cultures there are in today's society, and to give them the opportunity to share their own particular culture with others in what we hope will be an enjoyable day.
We hope to have sections on the different religions and cultures, crafts, music, dances and food.
Plans are still in the early stages, but I am looking for interested people who are willing to help, either by taking part, by helping with the preparations to organise this event, or by helping out on the day.
We are also looking for funding or sponsorship for this event. The type of expenditure we would be looking at would be for the hire of the hall and extra tables and chairs, advertising, programmes and printing costs, phone calls, stationery, coaches to transport people from nearby areas, workshop presentations and food sampling from other cultures.
If you are willing and able to help in any way with the above then I would like to hear from you. You can contact me, Mavis Grundy, by telephone on 01942 883248 or 0161 799 7178 .
