MR GEORGE K Brown has been a pillar of the community for very many years, and has given valuable service to his fellow citizens, along, of course, with his wife Betty. Both are former Mayors of Farnworth.
I write as an old Farnworthian, who moved to Bury many years ago and who reads George's letters in the BEN. He never writes anything that is not full of wisdom as well as common sense.
Recently, I read his letter about what amounts to a statement concerning the aims of Education to the Emeritus Club, a thriving society of over 70 retired teachers from Bury and District. They applauded his remarks enthusiastically and said how true.
Well done George, spot on again.
