BOLTON Bury Export Club Chairman Peter Weidenbaum has called for help for exporters.

Mr Weidenbaum, managing director of Bury's Trumeter Group, told diners at the club's annual dinner: "We are not officially in a recession, but you would get a different view when you talk to our members - we must help them through this difficult time."

Mr Tony Rink, Chairman of the Bolton Bury Chamber, sent a message to Westminster via Bolton South East MP Brian Iddon.

It was: "The current level of the pound leaves it very difficult for exporters to earn an honest crust - we need to export goods, not jobs."

Cllr Bob Howarth, Leader of Bolton Council, spoke of the importance of exporting and underlined the help given to companies by the Export Club.

Mr Mark Skinner, general manager European Development for Impact, a worldwide training and development company, said: "Companies should be striving for a service-orientated relationship to gain trust overseas.

"They should be prepared to cross cultural boundaries and they should be fully committed to exporting."

Details of the Export Club are available from secretary Neal Massey on 0161-762-3316.
