Aquatic symphony Thankfully, not always, but today,
Things are very grey and very wet.
This wearisome weather, playing its part fully,
Incessant rain, pouring still, on this
Already, well-washed crescent and square.
Nothing under this bleak, black and broken hearted sky
Has escaped, a truly thorough soaking,
Gulping greedily, grids with gullies, gurgle.
As they drink their fill from this teeming torrent.
Rushing, gushing, continually flushing
The drains of the Borough, better by far
Than any would be gullypot dredger.
"Good day for the ducks", said one wet wit.
"And not too bad, for the umbrella seller Joe's"
Said in quick reply. John R Mather, Castle Street, Bolton
