BO Hansen flies in from Brondby tonight to a welcome and a warning from his new Wanderers' team-mates.
The Danish international is due to complete the formalities of his long-awaited £1 million transfer from the Danish Champions tomorrow before taking his place in the squad for Saturday's home game against West Brom.
But Reebok skipper Scott Sellars gave him an idea of the task he faces in displacing either Bob Taylor or Dean Holdsworth when he suggested: "He's going to find it difficult to get in the team at the moment because Bob and Dean are playing so well."
Wanderers finally pushed through the Hansen deal at the weekend, a month after doing most of the groundwork, following the £2.5 million sale of Arnar Gunnlaugsson to Leicester City.
The 26-year-old Dane, who was Brondby's top scorer with 12 goals and played in the European Champions League before the mid-winter break, is regarded as a skilful, mobile and experienced striker - on the face of it the perfect replacement for the Icelander, who was substitute for his new club on Saturday in their 2-0 home defeat by Sheffield Wednesday.
"Moves like this happen in football all the time," Sellars said. "Good luck to Arnar. He's chosen to go somewhere else and we have to respect his decision.
"We'll welcome Bo and hope he's as big a favourite with the crowd as Arnar was - and as successful.
"In the position we are in we need a strong squad. That's one of the reasons we are up there in the table - that and the confidence that comes with winning games."
Ironically, as Hansen prepares to take Wanderers' Danish contingent to four with the completion of his medical, two of his fellow countrymen are away on national service.
Claus Jensen plays for Denmark U-21s tomorrow with Per Frandsen expected to start in the full international on Wednesday. But Michael Johansen will welcome the new arrival on his first day's training at Euxton - a place he is familiar with having spent a week training there last month.
"Bo's been before and he knows the lads already," Sellars said assuringly. "Anyway, it means the players and the team is doing well if there are so many away on international duty."
Jussi Jaaskelainen is away with Finland and Ricardo Gardner flew out home to Jamaica yesterday for a friendly against Costa Rica expecting warmer conditions than he experienced at Grimsby on Saturday.
"I don't exactly know what the weather is like at the moment but it should be very, very hot!" he said hopefully.
