CHILDREN'S TV entertainer, Mike Amatt of Bolton, will be be a top treat for tots later this month.

For the star, who is famous for his appearances on a variety of children's TV programmes, is holding a Teddybear Treat - an all-action, fun-packed show for children.

Mike, who lives in Harwood with his wife and three children, will be at Longsight Methodist Church on February 16 at 2pm during half term.

Children can take their teddies in fancy dress - and could see it come to life with the aid of a 'magic chair'.

Mike will also tell a story with music and sound effects that reminds children about road sense and safety in the kitchen.

A bumper-sized portrait of the winning fancy dress bear will also be painted in stunning ultra violet paint.

Mike, who has played Idle Jack in the Dick Whittington pantomime at The Albert Halls, has presented Playschool and also had a children's TV series called Forget-Me-Not Farm on BBC1 which was repeated from 1990 to 1996 every year.

In the 1980s, Mike created his own TV series on BBC1 called Mop and Smiff which was filmed around Belmont.

As well as being a Beaver Scout leader, he also plays lead guitar in a rock band.

"My Teddybear fun show is suitable for any child who loves a teddybear, aged 2 to 92," he said. "This show will be bringing a ray of sunshine into town during what it probably the bleakest of all half term holidays."
