WHEN Bolton Council were responsible for grass verges and pavements, they were regularly cleared of encroaching weeds. I believe this service has been privatised now.
The growth of nettles, docks, brambles etc have been allowed to take up half the pavement on Wigan Road, from Hunger Hill down to Barton Grange Garden Centre. The ends of the twigs are jagged and broken, and at a dangerous level for children's faces. Beaumont Road's pavements are similarly obstructed,.
In various places around Bolton there are notices to tell us that some firms have accepted responsibility for keeping the area tidy.
Is it not the duty of the firm that tendered for this service, to keep our pavements and grass verges in a reasonable state?
