BO Hansen snubbed offers from other English clubs as he waited to complete his £1 million transfer to Wanderers.
The Danish striker, who has turned his back on European Champions League football to have a crack at the Premiership, spent a month in limbo before finally completing the move from Brondby.
But he had set his heart on joining the Reebok ranks after spending a week training with the Bolton players.
"I had calls from other clubs in England while I was waiting for things to go through," the 26-year-old striker revealed.
"But after getting to know the club and realising how ambitious they are to get into the Premiership, I really wanted to come here. I've been really impressed with what I have seen. I have been used to playing in Europe with Brondby and we've won the Championship in Denmark for the last three years but coming to Bolton is a dream come true for me.
"I've always wanted to play in the English Premiership or the First Division and I know from what I have seen that Bolton and Sunderland are the teams who are favourites to win promotion this season. I hope to be able to play a part in that."
Hansen, whose transfer was finally rubber stamped yesterday when his medical reports came through, accepts he will probably have to play a support role on Saturday when Wanderers attempt to extend their 13-match unbeaten run at home to West Brom.
Colin Todd is expected to stick to the Dean Holdsworth-Bob Taylor partnership, which means no place in the starting line-up for the new signing.
"I understand that," Hansen acknowledged. "I believe you have a saying in England that you never change a winning team."
Holdsworth, however, missed training yesterday after developing a rash which is understood to have been an allergic reaction to something he ate.
