LOCAL business organisations are being encouraged to support new efforts to identify and tackle Crime.
A Partnership Group operates in Bolton because the government's Crime and Disorder Act requires local authorities, the police and other agencies to work together to bring about reductions.
Business related crime was in a list of main concerns identified in the recent audit conducted in the town.
Chief Supt Mel Pelham, commander of the Bolton Division of Greater Manchester Police, is Chairman of the Partnership Group.
"We are trying to get a full picture of the amount of crime that affects businesses," he said.
To that end the Partnership is seeking closer contacts with the business community.
A presentation to members of Bolton and Bury Chamber is due to take place soon.
Chief Supt Pelham is keen to encourage business organisations to join the Partnership's Reference Group.
"There is a feeling that business needs to be represented more," he said.
Issues which needed working on included burglary/theft and the security of staff.
"Organisations wanting to join the Reference Group should write to me," Chief Supt Pelham said.
