I REFER to Mr J Holding's letter about cats in his garden. (BEN, February 5).
We had one which regularly left its deposit, always in the same place, in our small garden. I tried lots of things to stop it, all to no avail. I then broke some bare stalks off the privit hedge and stuck them in the soil, leaving about five or six inches sticking up all over the affected place. I left them there about three weeks then removed them. The culprit has never returned.
