BURY Parish Church Players present their annual pantomime from this Thursday until Saturday. John Sutton has written The Wizard That Was!, which is loosely based on The Wizard of Oz, but, I'm told, "With a few bits of, and a few characters from other pantomimes."
Many people from Bury Parish Church choir and congregation are taking part and there are children as young as four involved.
Slapstick, musical numbers and audience participation are promised.
The Players retain only enough cash for next year's show and the rest of the profits go to Bury Parish Church and other local charities. Since 1993, this figure has totalled £2,370.
The pantomime, which will be staged at Elton High School, Walshaw Road, Bury, starts at 7.30 pm. But there is also a 2.30 matinee on Saturday.
Tickets are available from Malcolm Evans on 0161 761 7302.
