THE fast-growing Bethell Group has announced record contract gains worth more than £8 million.
The Kearsley-based construction group has been awarded packages of major works throughout the North-west by clients including North West Water, the Highways Agency, Railtrack, British Waterways, ASDA and several leading local authorities.
Gains include a £1 million contract for Middleton and Oldham river improvement scheme incorporating modifications to pumping stations and construction of combined sewer outlets.
There has also been a £750,000 contract to refurbish regional reservoirs, a £550,000 contract for bridge repairs on the M61/M57 and a £450,000 refurbishment of an apartment block in Runcorn.
Mr Tim Kilroe, Bethell Chairman and Managing Director, said: "Our strategy of organic growth combined with a methodical acquisition programme over the last year is now paying real dividends.
"The Group's nine subsidiary companies are working under one corporate umbrella to pitch for and win major calibre contracts."
He added: "Several more prestigious contracts are already in the pipeline and we are well-placed to reach the ambitious targets we have set for 1999."
Bethell now employs more than 430 people in Kearsley, Newton le Willows and Worsley.
