PROFESSIONAL magic man Glenn Scott is making a miraculous comeback after fighting back from an industrial accident that could have wrecked his career.

Glenn, who had the tips of his fingers sliced off at a textile mill - is preparing to stage his first "close up" show in three years at the Market Place in Bolton.

Ambitious Glenn - who aims to be bigger than David Copperfield and has his sights on making a million in Las Vegas - will be entertaining shoppers with his sleight of hand on Saturday.

Glenn, whose real surname is Urmston, is eager to prove his recovery from the horrific accident which forced him to re-think his career.

"It will be the first time I've done close-up work in three years," he told the BEN. "It's a trial run to see how the public reacts to the tricks and the new image."

That image, which Glenn has adopted since the New Year, is Gothic. He performs his act as a modern-day vampire, complete with fangs and leather pants.

It was three years ago that an industrial sized blade cut through the tips of two fingers on his left hand, causing him to lose the sensation there.

At this point Glenn, who lives in Wasdale Avenue, Breightmet, was already practising magic in his spare time and was a member of the Magic Circle. But he didn't have the courage to take up the magic business full-time.

The accident made him re-consider. He explained: "After the accident I couldn't face going back to the mill.

"And I was in the position of having to decide what to do next. I opted for the magic and just went for it."

Among his more macabre tricks is decapitation, borrowed from the old guillotine head chopper trick! But it is the "bread and butter" hand tricks that he has been adapting over the last couple of years to get his act back on the road.

He has recently performed at parties, holiday camps and shopping centres, but in the future he's hoping to stage a live variety show that will tour the UK. All he needs to do is to work his "magic" and find a sponsor.
