BO Hansen proved an instant hit with an impressive two-goal blast on his Wanderers' debut last night.

Colin Todd's new Danish striker, snapped up for a cool £1 million last week, took just four minutes to make his mark and could have had a hat-trick when he helped the Reserves to a 3-2 win at West Brom.

Despite a lack of match practice, the 26-year-old attacker from Brondby, made light of the transition from European Champions League to the modest surroundings of non-league Halesowen Town to signal his intent.

Now Dean Holdsworth and Bob Taylor, whose recent successes confined Hansen to the subs bench for the 2-1 victory over Albion at first team level on Saturday, know they have a keen and able contender.

Last night's win also saw Andy Todd complete another 90 minutes to underline his fast-improving return to fitness after his double hernia operation in November. Provided he suffers no reaction, the young centre-back looks all set to answer the SOS for the home game against Crewe on Saturday week.

There was another plus with the performance of 28-year-old midfield trialist Tommy Schramm, who did enough to warrant a second look.

Schramm, a former Brondby player now at Herfolge, is expected to return for next week's Pontins League game against Grimsby.

It was Hansen's performance, however, that caught the eye and prompted a delighted reaction from Colin Todd: "It was superb that Bo got the two goals on his debut.

"He worked hard and, although he looked a bit tired towards the end, he can be pleased with his performance.

"It was also a tremendous workout for Andy Todd in the conditions. We'll check him out today to see how he feels but there was no adverse reaction last night."
