MAY I comment on the Northern Ireland agreement. There appears to be some confusion as to whether the ceasefire is still in operation or not.
When it is remembered that the ones being "knee-capped", beaten or even killed are not innocent citizens but are members of the organisation that has murdered, bombed, terrorised and made life very unpleasant for decent law-abiding Irishmen, women and children, not to mention the members of the police and armed forces then, I, for one, am quite prepared to sit back and let it happen.
On the question of the handing in of weapons, it must be remembered that under the terms of the agreement, as circulated to any house north and south of the borders, the disarmament process has a time-scale of two years from the signing of the agreement to be completed.
