BOLTON got a welcome jobs boost today with energy giants Norweb set to take on 100 more employees.
Energi from Norweb have announced the creation of the new jobs at their Bolton Customer Care Centre following the deregulation of the gas and electricity markets.
The firm says it needs to take on new staff to cope with interest from customers throughout Britain who phone their main North-west call centre. The company says it expects to announce even more positions over the next few months. Recruitment has already started for a variety of jobs including supervisors and customer service assistants. The good news comes on the back of a dreadful start to the new year on the Bolton jobs scene with more than 800 redundancies announced by big firms in the area.
As reported in the BEN, nearly 600 jobs are being axed at Littlewoods distribution centres in the town and 220 jobs at textile firms in the Bolton area.
Chairman of Norweb, John Beckitt, said: "We are thrilled we are creating more jobs in the North-west. We feel we are flying the flag for the region in the national energy market and our success can only be good for the area."
