A CHORLEY supermarket dished up a TV treat for shoppers when two top chefs descended on the place.
Paul Heathcote, of Simply Heathcotes, Manchester, and Dai Davies, from the Bryn Howel Lodge, in Llangollen, took their skills to Asda, Clayton Green.
Assisted by Paul Crone, of Granada Tonight, and two life-size leeks, they dashed around the shelves to collect five items from which they conjured up a main course and a dessert.
The whole spectacle was filmed by Granada for a TV special in aid of LIVE Challenge '99 tomorrow, Friday, February 19, at 10.40pm.
But before filming even started, the Granada continuity assistant delivering the giant vegetables broke down on the motorway and had to call out the RAC to help get her to Asda in time for shooting.
Shoppers wondered just what was going on as an RAC man walked into the store with a giant vegetable under each arm.
A store spokesperson said: "It went down very well and the shoppers really enjoyed it."
The programme will reveal the results of the fund-raising for many North West-based charities, including the Big Issue and Christies and will be presented by Lisa Riley, of Emmerdale and You've Been Framed.
