Please tell me I'm dreaming!
Your front page story (February 8) regarding the Water Place made my blood boil.
The Water place has been a massive drain on the town's resources ever since it was created. Now only 12 years since the WP was opened, Cllr Gerald Reilly and his Leisure Services committee are devising a "new" plan that is doomed before any agreement is made.
Does Bolton need another cinema or another bowling alley?
How exactly do they propose to make 'WP 2000' into a success when clearly they have been unable for 12 years to do that with the original concept?
For certain the Great Moor Street area needs a re-vamp - but not with the same old idea and a repeat of facilities already provided in two other parts of town.
During the recent commonwealth games, Bolton produced a bronze medal swimmer, a fact Mr Reilly is well aware of for he only recently addressed
the AGM of the organisation that trained this swimming star.
Come on Bolton Leisure Services, get your hand in your pocket, give our excellent town a swimming pool for the 21st century and who knows we may
even produce several gold medalists at the Manchester games in 2002.
