FORMER Grenadier Guardsman Norman Isherwood, who became involved in computer porn, has been ordered to register as a sex offender.
Mr Michael Williams prosecuting, said that Isherwood, aged 50, was arrested at his home in Radcliffe Road, Bolton, after a special police unit monitored the internet.
Isherwood had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to making and distributing indecent pictures, and possessing pornographic pictures.
He had been bailed until yesterday for a probation report.
Mr Williams told Bolton magistrates that Isherwood had been a subscriber to the internet, but succeeded in gaining access to a 'suspect' area of the system. He added that after the police monitoring unit came across an indecent image they began inquiries. Mr Williams said that Isherwood, who had been using the title 'Normiski Global' on the internet, was arrested at his home, and the police found eight black and white images in his computer system, and he admitted downloading obscene pictures through his computer.
He said another 130 colour and black and white images were recovered when the hard drive of Isherwood's computer was examined. Mr Williams said: "There were pictures of male children in various states of undress, and in some cases sexual activities with other children and adult males."
He said that when Isherwood was charged he replied: "I'm deeply ashamed and I will honestly not do it again."
Mr Richard Silver ,defending, said Isherwood was a bankrupt after a business failure.
But he asked the magistrates not to confiscate the computer equipment because he said that when Isherwood came out of his bankruptcy he planned to start a new office services business.
Isherwood was put on probation for two years, and ordered to pay £50 costs.
His computer equipment and the pictures were confiscated, and he was ordered to register as a sex offender with the police for five years.
