SO the agony of hundreds of families over which secondary school their children are to be allocated was prolonged by another two weeks. Is the "confusing" application form not the same as previous years? If so, are we a particularly thick batch of parents who can't understand it; or indeed, if it's that bad, why has it been left so late to clarify it.
Other areas of the country have this whole allocation business sorted well before Christmas. This is just too long, and the pressure felt because of the yawning chasm in standards between different schools, by families who can't afford to move house into a guaranteed "good school" catchment area is immense
and unnecessary.
