A RENOWNED Bolton company celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
British Turntable Co. Ltd, based in Emblem Street, was founded in 1959 by Chairman and Managing Director John Entwistle.
It started manufacturing turntables for car showrooms and has since developed into a successful international business.
British Turntable products can be seen everywhere from simple revolving retail displays to complex, high-precision machinery for industrial applications.
Magnum
The company began the year with a competition for customers, offering a magnum of champagne to the customer who could best demonstrate innovation using movement in a commercial environment.
It was won by Southampton-based Prestech Presentation Technology, who designed a revolving sign for Balfour Beatty at Manchester's Infrarail Exhibition.
They built a 6m high pyramid and topped it with a large, illuminated revolving sign.
Agency partner Pete White said they were surprised and delighted to receive the bubbly.
He added: "We knew it was from British Turntable, because when we'd finished it, the room kept going round."
