Last week we created three new jobs and scores of people registered with the Millennium Jobs Challenge, raring to go back to work.

The search is now on for more employers who can employ these people.

The Millennium Jobs Challenge offers a free, tailor-made recruitment package for your vacancy - ensuring your post will be on display throughout the Bolton area.

Plus, there could be free press coverage in this newspaper to help you find the perfect person for your position. Kenneth's back at work - in a day! WHEN Kenneth Mann's work contract ran out at Christmas, the New Year looked bleak for the 16-year-old from Sharples.

But after ringing the Millennium Jobs Challenge phoneline, he was back in work within a day and is now a valued employee at Specific Components Ltd in Bolton.

"My dad saw the telephone number and I rang the same day. The Jobcentre contacted the company and I was then asked to go for an interview - I got the job there and then," says Kenneth.

Chips

"That was on a Friday and I started work the following Monday. I couldn't believe how quickly everything happened."

Kenneth's duties at the company, which refurbishes computer chips, are varied - something he likes.

Some days the former Sharples School pupil will be unloading and packing stock and others he'll be removing computer chips from boards.

Despite not being experienced in this type of work, Kenneth says he's receiving excellent "on the job" training.

"I really like it here," he says, "even though this is only my second week.

"The work's interesting and the people are really nice. It's the best job I've had since leaving school." John and Phil build a better future ANOTHER Jobcentre success story is that of a Bolton building company who, through the Millennium Jobs Challenge, have two new employees.

J &V Lawsons Builders Ltd are helping to build a better future in conjunction with the BEN and the Millennium jobs challenge for John Nelson of Bolton and Phillip Bessel from Worsley.

The two local men applied for the general labourer's position on the same day and were equally successful. The job offers a permanent full time position within the established company on Somerton Road, Bolton, where the two can look forward to work focusing mainly on the extensions of local houses and garages.
