LEISURE bosses are planning to drain a lake which has formed in one of Bolton's biggest parks.
Deputy director of leisure John Shepley said parks staff were investigating serious drainage problems at Moss Bank Park.
Worried local residents contacted the BEN when the huge lake formed between the main car park and Moss Lane.
One resident, who did not want to be named, said: "It is not just a small pond. It's a wide span of water and is quite deep in the middle.
"As far as I'm concerned it's dangerous and I have heard reports of a young lad having a lucky escape when he fell in the water and had to be pulled out."
Mr Shepley said the flooding had developed through recent bad spells of wet weather.
He said: "That area does hold water and there are difficulties with the drainage there.
"I will get staff to take a look at what can be done to sort this out as a matter of urgency.
"The water will be pumped away by the end of this week and a small area around an old manhole will be fenced off. We will then work to avoid the flooding happening again."
