A CHARITY celebrity gala evening is being held to boost the Christopher Lomax Appeal.
As reported in the BEN, seven-year-old Christopher is being held by his mother, Helen, in Greece as his father, Ian, fights to bring him home.
Campaigners face a race against time to raise funds to pay a top Greek lawyer to appeal against a court decision which ruled Christopher should stay in Greece.
Today they were given a big boost when nightclub boss John Musso agreed to open The Temple/Mondo complex for a charity evening.
Mr Musso has offered free use of the club and has pledged the public will be treated to a celebrity line-up and entertainment from top DJs.
Mr Musso said: "This charity night is a great opportunity for the people of Bolton to get behind Mr Lomax and help him fight for his son.
"All proceeds from the night will go straight to the charity fund."
The night, on Wednesday, March 24, will also feature a charity auction with prizes donated by local businesses. Friends and relatives backing the campaign have also been urging Bolton businesses to organise charity collections to boost the fund in advance of the gala night.
Mr Lomax and his family believe the judge acted against the Hague Convention and broke international law over child custody.
An appeal against the original decision of the Greek judge, which kept Christopher in Piraeus, near Athens, must be lodged in the Greek courts before March 25.
Donation
The campaign must raise some cash as soon as possible to pay the initial costs of a lawyer making the appeal. It is expected the final bill will amount to several thousand pounds.
Admission to the gala evening will be by donation on the door, with a minimum of £5.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the Christopher Lomax Appeal Fund can make donations at branches of Barclays Bank quoting the sort code 20-10-71, account number 30657298.
