Wilf Richard's cross country relay race-Heaton Park
Chorley Harriers turned out two teams for the Wilf Richard's Cross Country races, held last Saturday at Heaton Park, Manchester.
This is a relay race consisting of 4 x 3 mile laps. The winning team was Salford Harriers with a combined time of 1hour 6 mins.
Chorley Harriers "A" team came in 17th out of 43 team with a time of 1 hour 15. Harriers "B" came home in time of 1 hour 25.
Times: "A"team: Keith Johnson 17.08, Malc Christie 18.51, Terry Walton 19.28, Pete Gillham 19.53
"B" team: Dave Lee 19.35, John McDonald 21.05, Colin Monk 23.08, Rudi Brits 22.02.
Inter Counties Cross Country - Nottingham.
CHORLEY Harriers were proud to have runners selected to represent the county last weekend.
Lancashire finished in the top ten in two age categories. Every Chorley Harrier ran well enough to score points for the county. This is a remarkable achievement.
Under 13 Girls: Victoria Snape 93/285 5th counter, Lancashire was 8th out of 41 counties.
Under 15 Boys: Gareth Cooper 112/296 3rd Counter, Lancashire was 19th out of 41 counties.
Under 15 Girls: Katie Inghram 56th/270 2nd Counter (excellent run)
Lancashire was 9th out of 39 counties.
Senior Ladies: Elaine Leonard 5th counter- position not available.
Horwich Cross Country Junior Race:
Horwich RMI staged a race at the weekend aimed at encouraging junior athletes to take part in cross country events. Chorley Harriers won the bronze medal in two age categories.
Under 11 Girls: Tara Bleasdale 10th
Under 11 Boys: Philip Unsworth 17th, Steven Carrington 18th
Under 13 Girls: Joanna Fitch 14th
Under 13 Boys: (Bronze Medal) Andrew Thompson 10th, Daniel Yarrow 13th, Matthew Christie 14th, Mark Thompson 16th.
Under 15 Boys (Bronze Medal) Mike Unsworth 7th ,William Unsworth 9th
Adam Taylor 10th.
