WITH reference to the forthcoming local elections on May 6, I read with disbelief the literature that both the Liberal and Labour groups in Clayton East Ward are circulating.
It's obvious that Labour and Liberals are only tinkering with crime issues. Liberal and Labour, in union, have used every opportunity to vote against measures to protect the victim by being tough on the criminal, they both state grounds of civil liberties as their case, which sums up their attitude to crime and the criminal as one of ineptitude.
Chorley Conservatives are the only ones really dealing with crime issues, they want a return to justice and the "bobby on the beat" principal.
They want the victim to feel protected and the residents to feel safe, they want the courts to be harsh on the criminal.
I feel it's high time that a Conservative councillor represented this ward and put a stop to the lenient attitude of the other two parties and make law and order a priority for Clayton East and Chorley.
