I WISH Councillor Wilson would use his leadership skills to HELP Clayton-le-Woods rather than sniping at those who are "Silly", Citizen, February 11).
Clayton is Chorley's largest village, we pay a huge amount of Council Tax to the Labour-controlled county and Chorley councils, but what do we get for it?
Those of us who live in housing association properties, in addition, have to pay up to £400 in service charges. We are being bled dry, yet Labour has failed to provide many basic services such as a secondary school (which would also be able to provide adult evening classes) and a police station.
We also have no bank (other than post offices), building society, social service office, Citizens Advice Bureau, swimming pool and we have very few open-air sports facilities.
High bus fares mean that travelling to these facilities is a nightmare, especially for families on low incomes.
Chorley Council is no more generous to Clayton Green Sports Centre than it is to All Seasons Leisure Centre in Chorley town and Brinscall Baths. Chorley was given the Clayton Green Sports Centre by the New Town.
I am going to carry on supporting the local Liberal Democrats because they have campaigned for better facilities for the villages of Chorley and against Labour's loss-making projects which have forced the Council Tax bill sky high.
Mr R Rackham,
Greenwood,
Clayton Green.
