A UK workers' study shows that the happiest staff work for Investors in People organisations.
The survey of 600 companies (half of which were working with Investors in People) found that 94pc of workers in organisations with the Investors in People standard say they like their job, compared to just 37pc in other
companies and double the number would recommend their company to their best friend (79pc vs 38pc).
Secure
Twice as many people in Investors organisations feel secure in their job (82pc vs 42pc) and almost three times as many feel they get on well with their colleagues (92pc vs 37pc).
Bolton and Bury Chamber, which guides and supports local organisations through Investors in People, welcomed the findings.
Andrew Heydeman, Head of the Chamber's Workforce Development Team, said: "These findings provide a powerful endorsement for the Investors standard of excellence which links development of staff to the achievement of organisational goals."
The survey was conducted by Planet Research, who tested employeees' attitudes to their employers, colleagues and their work, including the factors that would make them leave or stay in their job.
Mr Heydeman added: "One of the most fundamental truths of business is that happy staff are more effective and productive and this survey
confidently demonstrates that Investors in People is a proven tool for
boosting staff satisfaction."
Ray Ross, quality manager at IIP company Verna Ltd in Bolton, said: "Investors in People is a common sense approach to motivating and developing your people to meet your organisational goals.
"It is a simple framework that ensures everybody in the organisation knows where the business is going and feels confident in making their own valuable
contribution."
