A CONTROVERSIAL road closure scheme in Horwich is set to be officially scrapped later today.
Bolton's planning and environment committee councillors are to give the go-ahead for Winter Hey Lane at Horwich to re-open.
As the BEN reported last month, council chiefs admitted that it had not been successful.
They had attended a stormy public meeting where traders made it clear that the closure to through traffic of one of Horwich's busiest streets is hitting business.
Councillors will be asked to approve ending the experimental driving order on Winter Hey Lane and for a traffic signal being put back at the junction of Winter Hey Lane, Lee Lane and Longworth Road.
The planning and environment committee will have delegated powers to approve the measures.
This means that it will not have to go to a full council meeting and the road can be re-opened immediately.
