THORNLEIGH School defender Daniel Dawson has kept his place in England Under 18s squad for their Goodyear Centenary Shield International against Wales at Molineux tonight. The local youngster who has represented Greater Manchester throughout the season, was part of the England Under 18s squad which drew 1-1 against Northern Ireland in their opening Centenary Shield match at Darlington last month.
Meanwhile, Bolton Under 15s bid to make it into the Greater Manchester Schools Woodhead Cup Final when they travel to take on neighbours Bury at the Derby School on Saturday (10.30am). Bolton team boss Ivor Altdorf has been unable to play his strongest team during the past few games due to the regulations governing boys at the Bolton Wanderers Academy.
But he is hoping that they will be released to play for the town this weekend as Bolton bid to halt a run of four games without a win.
Bury Under 14s complete their Greater Manchester Schools Talbot Cup group matches when they take on Rochdale at the Derby School on Saturday (10.30am).
Bury need a point from the match to make certain of a semi final place.
