NO Government has yet been formed since the General Election, but it appears that Mr Wilson may be called upon by the Queen this evening, thereby ending the constitutional crisis, with no Party having an overall majority.
Two hundred Britons were feared killed today in the world's worst air disaster after a plane crashed in a wood 25 miles from Paris.
50 YEARS AGO
ON some of the Bolton housing estates of the future there will be hostels for the old and the disabled people of the town who are in need of care and attention. Bolton Housing Committee has provisionally allocated three sites on housing estates, and it is proposed that the hostels, which, it is hoped, will be erected by March, 1954, will house 30-35 people. There is also a proposal under consideration for the adaption of a portion of Smithills Hall, which was purchased by the Council some years ago.
