NEW Rosemere AOS notched up a "first" when they publicised their next show with Bolton's award-winning sea cadets using their semaphore skills. The cadets were in Bolton's Market place with a dinghy and costumed members of the cast to advertise Trial by Jury and HMS Pinafore which will be staged at the Albert Halls, Bolton, from March 9 to 13. A spokesman for NRAOS committee said: "We believe this display was the first time that semaphore signals were used to publicise a Gilbert and Sullivan show, but, as we're not sure, we're hoping someone will let us know if it wasn't!"
Parade
On the Thursday night of the show Bolton's Sea Cadets will be on parade to welcome members of the audience.
As the show has a nautical air, the society is inviting all naval types to attend the show on Thursday night when anyone attending in naval uniform will be given a free programme. A collection for the cadets to thank them for all their help will be taken. Bolton's Sea Cadets' Marine Cadet detachment are currently holders of the top Cadet award - the Gibraltar Cup which is presented to the top unit in the country.
A society spokesman said: "Lt Brian Stubbs, their Commanding Officer, has been particularly helpful to NRAOS in their search for 'a kind of authenticity'."
Tickets for the double-bill are available from Pat Killeen on 01204 522048 or the Albert Halls Box Office on 01204 364333.
