IN the Chorley Nissan Sunday League Guardian Shield 1st round, Division Two side Red Lion played host to Premier division team St Josephs Athletic.
Red Lion got off to a great start when Platt lashed home a loose ball after only three minutes.
But things got even better for Lion ten minutes later when Warren chipped the ball over the keeper from 16 yards and Platt added his second.
In a rare attack from the visitors, Bibby scored after his shot flew in off the post.
In the second period St Josephs tried to play some attractive passing football, but the pitch deteriorated as the game went on.
Midway through the half Bradley tapped the ball home for the visitors. The Saints now threw everything at Red Lion, with some excellent goalkeeping from McClellan and last ditch defending keeping Lion in the game.
But, after a couple of near misses, the result was sealed two minutes from time when White lunged for a loose ball steering it into the net for a memorable 4-2 victory.
Roebuck made progress to round two courtesy of an impressive 8-2 home win against Seven Stars.
Four goals from substitute Maitland saw Farmers Arms win 6-2 at Brookes Arms.
Already through to the third round are Railway after a 1-0 win at Rose and Crown - a first half Georgeson goal settling the tie.
In the Supplementary Cup, two goals each from Mayren and Proctor helped Coppull St Oswalds beat Adlington Ceramics 5-1.
The only league game to be played was in Division Two where Adlington Rovers overturned a half time deficit to beat White Bull 5-2.
