EIGHT-YEAR-OLD motorbike-mad Sam is scrambling to become the best in his field . . . although he desperately needs somewhere to practise!

Sam Gilston from Charnock Richard, who's been riding motor-cross since the age of two, has a cabinet full of trophies at his home on NearGate.

Last year alone, Sam clocked up more than 10 trophies and titles - including the British Youth Motor Cross championship.

Yet, with all his talent and skill, Sam together with his supportive family are desperately looking for locals to spare some land for him to practise on.

Proud grandmother Yvonne, believes Sam is on track to become one of the sports biggest stars.

She told us: "Sam has got a tremendous talent. Every since his first race when he was two, Sam has never lost interest and he has always been keen to get out there and ride.

"He has received so much praise and respect from people - including the current Motor Cross World Champion Stefan Everft from Belgium who Sam has met a couple of times."

Yvonne and her husband Colin are no strangers to motor-cross. Both of them were involved in the Park Hall Motor-Cross Club for almost ten years.

She added: "Sam's dad used to race bikes when he was younger, so I suppose it's always been in the family.

"If there is anyone out there who could help Sam with a bit of land to practise on, then please get in touch. We would all be very grateful."

If you can help, ring Yvonne on (01257) 792255.
