A RECENT report into what's fashionable and what's not has revealed that many people have ditched the classic denim jeans for a more trendy look, including the latest fashion, combat pants.
And, the study showed that a lot more older people - male and female - prefer wearing combat pants now instead of denims.
So, in the light of these findings, reporter Shaun Gibbons and photographer Simon Bolton, went about town to find out just what people thought about denim jeans being replaced by combat pants.
Street vendor Alan Flemming, 35, who often wears jeans, thinks they're great and jeans make him feel like a real cowboy!
He said: "I wear jeans most of the time because they are practical, easy to wash and comfortable.
"I'm afraid I wouldn't wear combat pants - I don't really think I have the figure for them!"
Pawan Lal, 20, from Chorley's Lal clothes stall, has noticed in recent months that more people than ever now wear combat pants - including older people.
He said: "Everyone wears combat pants nowadays, even older people. We tend to sell more combats than jeans at the moment.
"It's the fashion isn't it? Whether you're male or female, young or old. Anyway, people should be able to wear what they want."
David Wallbank, says he would never wear combat pants and likes his jeans too much.
He said: "I wear jeans, but I wouldn't wear those combat pants. My son does all the time, but not me. I'm not really into fashion anymore, really."
David's wife, Ann, said she would wear combat pants instead of jeans, although she's a fan of anything denim.
She said: "Yes, I'd wear combat pants, definitely. But having said that, I still like wearing denim jeans.
"I suppose more older people should wear combat pants, I mean it's only fashion isn't it?"
Rena Higgin, a hair stylist from Cameos on Chapel Street, Chorley, thinks jeans will always be in fashion - whatever!
She said: "I think jeans are here to stay, and I don't think people are sad for wearing them either.
"I wear jeans quite a lot, as well as combat pants. Anyway, it shouldn't be an issue what people wear."
Nicola Sewell, from Brinscall, believes that people should be able to wear what they want.
She said: "People, whatever their age, should wear whatever they feel like wearing. Fashions come and go.
"People should wear whatever makes them feel happy and comfortable."
