I WAS appalled, and disgusted to read in the BEN about the £2.3m owed by Bolton's Council House tenants.

This debt, I am sure is an ongoing situation from last year, when I wrote to ask why had the rent arrears been allowed to total at all to £2m+, without some positive action being taken.

To allow some tenants to owe £3,000 is beyond belief.

Councillors complain about the public not voting. Is it any wonder when one reads about the £2.3m debt. It puts one in mind of a typical Brian Rix farce and, to coin a phrase, it is a well know fact there is nothing easier than spending other people's money ie taxpayer's money. Those who are paying their rents and council tax regularly deserve to know there is going to be an independent investigation into this fiasco at an early date.
