for road FOR years the residents of Dene Bank and the adjoining area of Turton Road have been confronted with an ever growing problem of Kershaw Street returning to a quagmire state each autumn, because of the presence of an underground spring, together with the normal rain water coursing down Kershaw Street in the direction of Dene Bank. Kershaw Street remains unadopted and, in 1997, the residents decided to build a new road surface after completing important remedial work. The local community have kindly supplemented the contributions of the four frontages to reach the total of £5,500 and now we have a lovely road with kerbing which should serve us for many years to come.
Our grateful thanks are due to Cllr Gareth Butterworth, the Water Board, Bolton Council Environment Department, particularly Technical Management who have been magnificent throughout the two years in preparation. Messrs Compsty have performed certain remedial work, before laying foundation and basecourse and generally improved our prospects.
