AFTER the considerable amount of money spent on widening both east and west bound carriageways of Moss Bank Way, I was astonished that Bolton Council proposed that both directions would be single lane.
This is presumably to accommodate the mad but politically correct wish to see half-hearted attempts to provide cycle lanes throughout the borough.
Has anyone investigated? How many cycles use Moss Bank Way? How many cyclists have been subject to traffic accidents on this road? How many cyclists are projected to use this road over the coming years?
If so, perhaps the electorate could be provided with these figures through your newspaper.
If not, then any attempt to inconvenience thousands of Bolton residents, day in and day out, should be suspended until proper valid investigations have been undertaken.
Bolton Council have been instrumental in allowing the town's football team to be moved to Horwich, and, along with other major developments, have also allowed the development of Tonge Valley. These projects force traffic onto the ring road, yet our Council see fit to reduce the traffic flow at a time when they should be looking to free up these bottlenecks.
