A MAN'S leg was severed in an horrific accident with a motorbike in Little Hulton last night.
Eddie Royle, aged 59, was crossing Cleggs Lane when he was involved in the accident with a Kawasaki 550cc.
The pedestrian's leg was cut off in the collision.
Mr Royle, of Westway, Little Hulton, was treated at the scene by police and paramedics before being taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital. He underwent surgery within an hour of arriving at hospital.
Traffic police - who are appealing for witnesses - say the accident happened near the junction with Eastham Way at 11.40pm. A police spokesman said motorcyclist Roy Bentham, of Dellside Grove, Walkden, was riding towards Bolton as the pedestrian was crossing the road.
Mr Bentham came off the machine in the accident and the bike slid along the road and came to rest near Amblecote Drive East.
Mr Bentham was also taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital with a broken left hand but was released after treatment.
