A Kearsley environmental group is still on the warpath over plans for a new supermarket.
The group, made up of residents opposed to a new superstore at Old Hall Street/Bolton Road junction, has sent dozens of letter to Environment Secretary John Prescott.
Developer Morbaine Ltd wants to build a supermarket on land currently occupied by scrap yards and a haulage firm.
Mr Prescott ordered a public inquiry - which took place in January - into the proposal after deeming it an out-of-town development which could threaten town centre shops.
The Kearsley Environmental Action Group is hoping to keep the pressure on Mr Prescott to reject the scheme.
But is faces an uphill struggle. As reported in the BEN, the plan was given the backing of Bolton Council which believes it will improve the area.
Jack Peers from the group said: "This development is going to cause traffic chaos for cars and pedestrians, particularly for the nearby school.
"We will fight it to the wire and hope we can keep pressing our case."
The inquiry's decision is not expected for some time.
