THE mind boggles at the number of people who are apparently tripping over pavements and potholes in Bolton town centre.
Because the council has paid out an amazing £430,000 in the last seven years to claimants.
Apparently it is not just in Bolton that shoppers tend to come tumbling down. There is a national problem across the country.
It is such a problem that nationally the law is being tightened to make it more difficult for people to claim, with a time limit being brought in for people to make claims.
That seems to suppose that in some places not everyone believes the claimants.
Here in Bolton if someone has proof of injury, then the council takes it as being an honest and truthful claim.
That is a fair attitude from the council.
We just hope claimants are being fair with them.
