THE newly formed Bolton Girls' Choir wants to sing the praises of any local firms or organisations willing to sponsor them.
Currently the choir's parents support group work hard to raise money for the group through their own sponsored activities.
The choir which invites girls to sing from the age of 12 upwards, does not hold auditions provided girls can pitch. It has only performed twice - at the Mayor's Christmas Charity Concert at the Excel Centre and at the Albert Hall on Tuesday, for the "Bolton music Centre Presents" evening.
Invited
Forthcoming engagements include a joint concert with Bolton Junior and Youth Choirs at Bolton School Arts and Conference Centre on April 24 and they have been invited to perform Mahler's 3rd Symphony with Bolton Festival Orchestra in August.
The choir meets once a week at Bolton Music Centre based at Deane School. The choir offers girls the chance to perform at regular concerts and prestigious events, as well as the opportunity to perform with professional musicians and take part in singing weekends and residentials courses. The girls also meet new people and make new friends.
The parents support group is now looking for patrons to support the good work.
Anyone interested in helping the group should contact the chairperson of the parents support group Anne Hodgson on 01942 810554.
