SUPER League referee Steve Ganson got it wrong twice in Leigh Centurions' narrow Challenge Cup fifth round defeat at Widnes 10 days ago. Ganson failed to send off the Vikings' teenage centre Chris Percival for a spear tackle on Leigh full-back Stuart Donlan but later did red card Kiwi stand-off Paul Mansson for an alleged high tackle on the same player.
But RL chiefs in Leeds have ruled that the St Helens official blundered on both occasions.
Percival was cited on video evidence and last night handed a two-game ban for a 'reckless' tackle but Mansson was found not guilty. Mansson is now clear to play against Leeds in Sunday's Challenge Cup quarter-final at the Auto Quest Stadium but Percival misses out.
Leeds yesterday received more tickets for the all-ticket match after disposing of their original allocation of 2,300. The capacity of the Auto Quest Stadium has been cut to 7,078 while building work goes on and the tie is heading for a sell-out.
