I AM a 72-year-old widow. I have all my own teeth and visit my dentist regularly and he tells me that my teeth are in very good condition and there is no reason why they shouldn't last me till the end of my days. The thing is, I hardly ever use toothpaste, but brush my teeth at least twice daily with ordinary tap water and my dentist knows this. The question is - will my teeth still remain in good condition if we allow fluoride to be put in our water. As most elderly people know, when we were children we didn't stuff ourselves with sweets, crisps and fizzy drinks, and I would think the answer seems to be to educate children on healthy eating, and to educate parents on how not to give in to a child every time the said child throws a tantrum when he/she wants sweets etc.
Fluoride in our water is not the answer, apart form all side effects on older people.
